Jonathan Nicolas, LUTCF, CLTC, AIF®
Partner Pettinelli Financial Partners
Jonathan Nicolas is a partner at Pettinelli Financial Partners’ and also one of firm’s financial advisors. When asked what he does for a living, Jonathan responds with “I mentor my client family to achieve financial freedom.”
Jonathan joined the firm in 2002, and for the first five years was mentored by Dennis Pettinelli, the firm’s founder and senior advisor, from whom he learned about the financial services industry from the ground up. In 2007, Jonathan began working directly with clients and took on additional responsibilities to mentor, coach, and develop junior associates. In recognition of his industry accomplishments, Jonathan was the keynote speaker at several national conferences, and he has been interviewed countless times on such topics as multi-generational financial planning and corporate fitness programs. One of Jonathan’s philosophies is that success comes from having a collaborative spirit. He takes great pride in serving as the “quarterback” for a client’s team of advisors, coordinating the efforts of their attorneys, CPAs, etc. According to Jonathan, by leveraging the intellectual capacity of the clients’ advocates and advisors, the clients have a greater likelihood of achieving their goals.
Jonathan is a graduate of the University of California at Davis, where he received Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Political Science and Communication. Jonathan believes in life-long learning and has attained the following advanced education designations in the financial services industry including: Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®), Behavioral Financial Advisor (BFA®), Certified 401(k) advisor (C(k)P), Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF), and Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC). He has his Series 7, 66, and 24 licenses, along with licenses for life, health, and long-term care insurance. Before becoming a financial advisor, Jonathan was in advertising sales and also an editor for a publishing company.
Active in the community, Jonathan has served as the Assistant Governor for District 5150 of Rotary International. District 5150 is comprised of the 40 Rotary Clubs in Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo Counties. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jonathan launched the District’s first Zoom support technician team. For his efforts and leadership, Jonathan was named the 2021-2022 Rotarian of the Year.
He was also the charter president of the Peninsula Starlight Rotary Club. He is currently on its Social and Fundraising Committee. As of December 2020, he was appointed to serve as an assistant governor in the coming Rotary Year. He is also on the District Assembly Planning Committee serving as the Zoom Coordinator. Before becoming a founder of the Peninsula Starlight Rotary Club, Jonathan was a 14-year member of the San Carlos Rotary Club, where he served as president from 2009 to 2010, as well as other leadership roles.
Jonathan has also served as the Vice President of the San Carlos Chapter of the Business Networking International from 2010 to 2011. In July 2013, Jonathan was one of the founders of the Business Advantage Networking Group. The latter organization boasts 33 active members and is still going strong.
Jonathan enjoys working out, particularly his cardio hip-hop class, and watching professional sports, including baseball, football, basketball, and ice hockey. He lives with Liane, his wife, in San Carlos, California, where they share their home with their Beagle Bailey Gemma. One thing that very few people know about Jonathan enjoys an immunity from Zoom fatigue.
